Toronto police are investigating a hit-and-run that sent one person to a hospital Friday evening.

Officers were called to the area of Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough just before 8:00 p.m. for reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Police say one vehicle was allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into another car on the road, before fleeing the scene.

It is unclear how many people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The suspects are still at-large, and no descriptions were released.

According to investigators, a firearm was recovered during a search of the surrounding area. No further details were provided.

Meanwhile, Toronto Paramedic Services says one person in the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
