Child struck by vehicle, seriously injured in Scarborough: police
An 11-year-old girl has been rushed to a trauma centre after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough.
Toronto police officers were called to the Victoria Park Avenue and Sloane Avenue area at around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, with police saying a child was transported to a trauma centre via an emergency run with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police tell 680News Radio that the girl is 11 years old, and early reports indicate that she was not crossing at a marked intersection. It appears the girl was cutting across the street from west to east when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.
Police said there are road closures in the area, and delays are expected.
