The District of North Vancouver says an evacuation order issued Oct. 26 in Deep Cove has been lifted — effective immediately — for one of the three properties under the order.

Residents at 2514 Panorama Drive are now able to return home. However, the properties at 5297 and 5313 Indian River Drive remain under the order.

“District crews have completed construction work on Panorama Creek this week which mitigated the life safety risk that resulted in the evacuation order,” it posted on social media Friday afternoon.

“The state of local emergency remains in effect.”

The District says the homes were put under the evacuation order last week after debris flows from the atmospheric river event that began Oct. 18 led to the Ostler and Panorama Creeks having limited capacity to “withstand future heavy rainfall events.”

The Oct. 26 evacuation order came less than a week after six properties on Panorama Drive were ordered to evacuation due to unstable ground after the atmospheric river. That order was in effect from Oct. 20 to 24 and has since been lifted.
