Peel police appeal for information in deaths of ‘innocent bystanders’
Investigators in Peel Region are offering a $100,000 reward for information in the unsolved murders of two women, who they say were “innocent bystanders.”
On July 8, 2019, 24-year-old Jackline Keji Gore was out with friends at Fume Lounge and Bar in Mississauga near Torbram and Drew roads when a suspect opened fire in the parking lot on a group of men. As the intended target fled the scene, the suspect continued shooting and Gore was struck and killed by a stray bullet.
As well police are also looking for information in the death of Raneilia Richards. The 19-year-old was waiting in line with friends at Jungle Event Space near Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue on December 31, 2023, when she was fatally shot. Police say she was simply in the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
“Both individuals were innocent bystanders, and investigators believe they were not the intended targets of the shootings,” police said in a release on Saturday.
While the circumstances surrounding both shootings are similar, police have not yet found any links to the fatal shootings.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
