Youth charged for allegedly threatening to bring firearm to school in York region

A youth has been charged after he allegedly threatened to bring a firearm and cause harm at a school in York Region.

York police were called to a secondary school on Dec. 18 to reports a male youth had made threats.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at the youth’s residence where a number of firearms were allegedly seized.

The youth has now been charged with uttering threats and possession of a restricted firearm without a licence

A Violent Threat Risk Assessment was also conducted once the student was removed the school and no longer posed a threat.

The assessment is to determine how best to support a student and decrease the likelihood of harm to themselves or others.
