1 arrested after man stabbed

The New Westminster Police Department says a suspect has been arrested in relation to an assault with a weapon over the weekend.

The incident took place on Clarkson Street in downtown New Westminster, where officers responded to the scene around 7 a.m.

Police found one man with a stab wound to his shoulder. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, the NWPD said they found and arrested their suspect within three hours. Police believe the incident was targeted and the suspect and victim appear to have known each other.

The NWPD said in its statement that the suspect was violating court-ordered conditions at the time of the assault.
