1 injured in pedestrian collision on HWY 1: Langley RCMP
Police are investigating Tuesday morning after a driver struck and injured a pedestrian along Highway 1 in Langley.
RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom tells 1130 NewsRadio the collision happened just after 5:30 a.m. near 256 Street.
“It is believed that this individual was walking on the side, I believe, or on the highway. That’s what one of the factors we’re trying to determine — as to how a pedestrian ended up on Highway 1,” said Sharoom.
He says the victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver reportedly remained on scene and is cooperating with police, and Sharoom says rain and low visibility are being considered factors in the crash, but alcohol is not.
Investigators are expected to remain on the scene until 9 or 10 a.m. Eastbound drivers can expect delays.
