1 woman killed, another critically injured in Mississauga

A woman has died and another remains in hospital after being struck by a driver in Mississauga early Friday evening.

Peel police were called to the Lakeshore Road West and Walden Circle area around 6:15 p.m. following reports that a pair of pedestrians had been struck.

Paramedics tell The Leader Spirit they located two women with serious injuries and transported them to a trauma centre.

Officers say one of the women – who is in her 70s – later died from her injuries. The other woman in her 60s remains in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and that an investigation is ongoing.
