Police in Langley say a 15-year-old child died in a structure fire Wednesday morning.

The Township of Langley Fire Department (TLFD) and police arrived at a residence on 248 Street near 100 Avenue around 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, the Langley RCMP says crews found the building “fully engulfed in flames.”

Once firefighters could enter the home, they discovered the deceased teen inside.

The TLFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

Mounties describe the fire as a “heartbreaking tragedy” and confirm there is currently no indication of criminality.

“We are looking at every aspect of this incident, considering the fact that a young person has lost their life,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom told 1130 NewsRadio.
