17-year-old arrested and charged after 4 stabbed in Downtown Eastside

A teenager has been arrested and charged after four people were stabbed in the Downtown Eastside Wednesday, the Vancouver Police Department says.

Officers were called to a building near East Hastings and Jackson Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. after reports that multiple people were stabbed.

The victims — three men and one woman — were taken to hospital with stab wounds, said the VPD.

The suspect was arrested within hours in another area of the Downtown Eastside. He remains in custody and has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault.

Police say they believe one of the victims was targeted, but the other three were bystanders.
