The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is investigating after a serious crash sent three people to hospital in life-threatening and serious condition overnight.

Police were called to the area of 128th Street and 65th Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. after reports of a two-vehicle crash that left one vehicle flipped over on fire with two people trapped.

Crews put out the fire, and the two occupants were taken to hospital. The lone occupant of the second vehicle was also taken to hospital.

The Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is assisting in the investigation.

“While it is still very early in the investigation, it is believed that the vehicle with the two occupants was travelling northbound on 128 Street at 64 Avenue and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with the second vehicle, which was travelling southbound on 128 Street,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said.

“Speed is being considered as a contributing factor.”

Police say 128th Street remains closed between 64th and 65th Avenue while investigators collect evidence.

The SPS is asking anyone with information or dash cam footage to call the non-emergency number at 604-599-0502 and refer to file 25-84954 (SP).
