4 men face 48 fraud charges after 2 years
The Burnaby RCMP says a two-year fraud investigation that ended at a Pitt Meadows property has led to dozens of charges against four men.
In April of 2023, an RCMP raid on the property found excavators, industrial printers and other indications police say showed it was being used as a “fraud factory.”
“Along with the excavators and industrial printers, hundreds of items were seized, including, numerous printers, hard drives, network storage, laser engravers, a VIN plate stamping machine and modifying tools, hundreds of fraudulent identification cards and blank identification cards, blank bank draft paper a handgun and ammunition,” police said, that year.
In an update Wednesday, Mounties say the BC Prosecution Service approved 48 charges against four men in January.
Each of the men, aged 54, 50, 37, and 33, is facing counts of theft, identity theft, illegal use of credit card data, and forgery, among other charges.
According to court documents, four people matching the names of the suspects are expected to appear in court Thursday. Only one person, matching the name of the 37-year-old, is reportedly in custody.
