Police say a 52-year-old man has died after a highway crash in Richmond Friday.

The single-vehicle crash shortly after noon closed a stretch of Highway 99 northbound, causing major delays for several hours.

“The evidence collected so far is that the deceased driver was alone in the white Dodge Ram flat deck,” said BC Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

“Speaking to more witnesses and gathering dash-camera video will be key to figuring out the exact cause of this crash.”

Police say they have not identified any other vehicles or people involved and are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash just after the Steveston onramp, or who has dash-cam footage, to call BC Highway Patrol-Burnaby at 604-526-9744 and refer to file (1004) 2025-1855.
