55-year-old man charged with seven counts of break-and-enter
The Burnaby RCMP has charged a 55-year-old man after he broke into seven residences between September 2023 and June 2024.
A lengthy police investigation of the break-ins, which concluded with the arrest of the suspect on August 27, led to 11 other charges.
In total, the BC Prosecution Service has approved 18 charges against the suspect, including nine counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of breaching a release order.
“While victims of break-and-enters have to deal with the loss of valuable personal items, there is also an immense emotional toll that comes with this type of crime,” said Sgt. Aly Mohan with Burnaby RCMP’s Strike Force Unit.
“We were able to return a number of items to several victims, but we also want the public to know that we have services in place to assist with the fear and anxiety that people experience in these situations.”
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Burnaby resident Fabiola Diaz is also facing 9 counts of possession of stolen property.
