9 people displaced after Surrey house fire Thursday evening
Nine people have been displaced but no injuries have been reported after a house fire in the area of 68th Avenue and 128th Street in Surrey.
Surrey Fire Service Assistant Chief of Operations Mike McNamara tells 1130 NewsRadio crews arrived at the two-story home Thursday evening and found flames coming out of the front of the building.
“Everyone was accounted for, except for two people, [we] did a thorough search and found that people weren’t in the building,” McNamara said.
“So nine people are displaced, and they’re going to be taken care of tonight.”
McNamara says the house was so badly damaged, it is likely a total write-off.
He says crews don’t know what caused the blaze.
“We’ll have an inspector come in the morning and do a search and get to the bottom of it,” he said.
