A youth has been arrested following reports of what was believed to be a man armed with a gun at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Monday.

According to UBC, police confirmed the item that appeared to be a weapon was a water gun.

In an announcement Monday, the university says it happened in their AMS Nest building.

“The building is safe and all normal operations have resumed with no threat to the university,” it said.
