Police lights flashing at night.

One car was rolled over and another was stuck in a tree after a collision at Westminster Highway and Garden City Road just before midnight Tuesday, the Richmond RCMP says.

Police say a witness reported a grey 2019 Audi A6 was travelling east on Westminster when it ran a red light and hit a 2023 Nissan Rogue, which was heading south on Garden City Road.

The drivers of both vehicles were trapped and needed help from Richmond Fire-Rescue to be removed. They were taken to a local hospital.

Impairment is not considered a factor, the RCMP says.

Video posted online shows the vehicle stuck in a tree near an Esso station and the rolled-over car in the middle of the road surrounded by debris.

Anyone with dash cam footage or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Richmond RCMP and quote file number 2024-37526.
