Amtrak rail service suspended between Vancouver and Seattle for 48 hours
A landslide near White Rock is behind a suspension of rail service between Vancouver and Seattle, Amtrak says.
“Due to a landslide covering the railroad tracks near White Rock, B.C. Canada, BNSF has placed a 48-hour moratorium on passenger service between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.,” Amtrak said.
On Thursday, customers travelling both north and south are being provided with alternate bus transportation.
Amtrak says that on Friday, customers travelling south will be provided with alternate bus transportation. Customers heading north will be held in Bellingham for an open track. As well, it says it will waive fees for people looking to change their reservations.
The extent of track damage is unclear.
Normal operations are expected to resume Friday around noon.
