Police are seeking witnesses after one woman died and three people were seriously injured in a crash near Cranbrook on Boxing Day.

The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) says the crash happened on Highway 3 near Stropky Road around 7:30 p.m.

“A southbound black Cadillac Escalade collided with a northbound red Honda CRV. The lone passenger in the Honda CRV, a 64-year-old woman from Grand Forks, did not survive,” Mounties said.

“The driver of the Honda CRV, along with two passengers in the Cadillac Escalade, were seriously hurt.”

BCHP says neither speed nor impairment have been ruled out of its investigation.

“This was the second fatal collision in less than a week in the winter conditions near Cranbrook. Please everyone, slow down and make sure you are driving sober and without any distractions,” Corp. Michael McLaughlin added.
