woman dead after crash into utility pole

A woman is dead and a man was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole near Mission Wednesday.

The Mission RCMP says the driver of a grey Mitsubishi Outlander collided with the pole on Sylvester Road near Cascade Ridge Drive around 4:30 p.m.

When first responders arrived, they worked to remove a woman from the passenger seat.

“Despite their best efforts, the 69-year-old woman died at the scene,” Mounties said Thursday.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly sustained only minor injuries. He was transported to hospital but has since been released.

Police say an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
