An 18-year-old is missing after reportedly falling through the ice in Salmon Arm, Mounties say.

Police received reports of the incident in the area between the Raven sub-division and Sandy Point just after 2 p.m. Saturday. Salmon Arm Search and Rescue, the Salmon Arm Fire Department, and BC Emergency Health Services were called out to help in the search.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team has also been called in to assist in the search.

“At this time we are asking the public to stay off local lakes as the conditions are currently unsafe despite the cold temperatures,” Staff Sgt. Sergeant Simon.

“We urge increased precautions if anyone is interacting near icy bodies of water.”
