The North Vancouver RCMP says a woman has been charged after an officer was allegedly attacked during an arrest Friday.
On Feb. 7, Mounties responded to a report of two people trying to break into a parking garage near Albert and West 3rd Streets.
When police arrived, they found a woman who matched the suspect description provided by a witness.
Officers reportedly tried to talk to the woman, but she ran off. Police chased her on foot and she was arrested a short distance later.
The woman allegedly attacked one of the officers and during the struggle to restrain her.
But that wasn’t the only injury.
“A second officer sustained serious injuries to his head requiring hospitalization and stiches,” said RCMP.
Police say the suspect had several outstanding warrants and was breaching a release order by carrying a knife.
In an update Tuesday, police say she has now been charged with two counts of breach of release order, one count of assault on a peace officer and one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
The suspect is currently in custody and police say she is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
