Toronto police are investigating a mass shooting in Scarborough that left at least 12 people injured Friday evening.

Officers say the shooting happened at the Piper Arms Pub near Scarborough Town Centre at approximately 10:30 p.m.

At least 12 people were reportedly shot. Their conditions vary from minor to critical, paramedics tell The Leader Spirit.

Police say the suspect is still at large. They were last seen wearing a black balaclava and fleeing in a silver car.

Roads in the area are closed for an investigation.

The pub was celebrating its opening night when the shooting broke out.

Mayor Olivia Chow responded to the news of the shooting early Saturday morning with a social media post that said, “I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough. I have spoken to Chief Demkiw and he has assured me all necessary resources have been deployed.”

“This is an early and ongoing investigation – police will provide further details,” she added. “My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
