Semi-truck crash-lands into Surrey yards

Some Surrey residents had a sudden wake-up call on Monday morning after a semi-truck and trailer clipped a BC Hydro pole and crash-landed in front of their homes.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. along 88 Avenue and 146 Street.
Kashif Hussein says his parent’s property is among those damaged, and says it could have been much worse.
“It missed the house, but it went directly through the yard, through the fences and everything,” he said.
“That is like, maybe up foot away from their gas line,” he added. “The houses are all fine. It’s the yards that are all demolished.”
Hussein believes there is a crash at that intersection every month or so.
“We were actually planning on getting cameras installed next week because his new tenants work with some camera stuff. So we were gonna get them installed next week, and this happens the week before,” he explained.
He adds that some homeowners have even put large rocks along the outside of their properties as a barrier against vehicles.
According to Hussein, the semi-truck driver was arrested at the scene.
