The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an incident in which shots were fired at a local car wash.

Police say that officers were on patrol at around 11:05 p.m. on Monday when they located bullet holes in the front of the affected business, located in the area of 128 Street and 84 Avenue.

The business was closed, and no employees were on scene at the time of the incident.

The owner of the business says he received a call from an unknown number on Saturday, August 16, in which the other person demanded $50,000.

He further claims that two men had visited the business owner at his home on Sunday at 12:20 a.m.

He says he has shared the video of this encounter with the SPS.

“Investigators are still attempting to determine the motive for the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing,” said police.

SPS says its Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) has assumed conduct of the investigation.
