New poll has more bad news for the BC NDP

Just days after the Angus Reid Institute reported that B.C. Premier David Eby’s approval rating has hit an all-time low of 41 per cent, the polling firm has more bad news for the BC NDP.

A new survey finds most residents think the government is doing poorly on all of the province’s most important issues, including health care, housing affordability, and public safety.

But the number one problem, according to respondents, is the cost of living — and a whopping 74 per cent say the NDP has done a bad job on that.

The BC Conservative Party has inched a couple of points ahead of the NDP in voting intention, but Angus Reid’s president says the leader of the BC Conservative Party leader isn’t doing any better in voters’ eyes.

“The numbers are even wider for John Rustad,” said Shachi Kurl.

“Twice as many British Columbians have an unfavourable view of Rustad [56 per cent] than have a favourable view [28 per cent].”

She adds that many respondents still don’t know who Rustad is.

The survey found half of B.C. voters think the province is on the wrong track overall.

“While this is hardly unique, as Albertans, Ontarians, and Quebec residents are as likely or more likely to say this of their province, it is not a ringing endorsement of provincial governance,” the report said.

Kurl points out that the province is still more than three years away from the next vote.
