Tent catches fire after reported propane explosion near Science World, fire crews say
No injuries were reported after a tent caught fire near Science World Saturday morning.
Witnesses say there was a small propane explosion in or near the tent just before 9 a.m., according to Vancouver Fire Rescue.
Asst. Fire Chief Pierre Morin tells 1130 NewsRadio that the tent was leaning up against the side of a building on Station Street near Southern Street when it caught fire.
“[The fire] didn’t extend to any buildings, so it was just a bit of grass fire damage and a tent that burned up,” Morin said.
The fire has been extinguished and investigators are working to determine the cause.
