The Richmond RCMP is reaching out to the public to ask for witnesses to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Dec. 31.

Mounties were called to the collision in the area of Williams Road and Seacote Road shortly before 7 a.m.

“Officers secured the scene while Emergency Health Services and Richmond Fire-Rescue provided medical assistance to the pedestrian,” Mounties said in a news release.

“Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to their injuries.”

Images from the scene on Wednesday showed police had stopped a damaged black sedan, and forensic investigators had set up a black tent on the road.

Mounties closed the street in both directions between Shell Road and No. 5 Road around 8 a.m. It reopened late Wednesday afternoon.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage from the area is asked to contact Richmond RCMP and refer to file 2025-41650.
