The North Vancouver RCMP say that officers have arrested two alleged suspects in connection with a bear‑spray assault at Capilano Mall in December.

The arrest happened on Jan. 3, when officers were conducting patrols on Marine Drive.

Police say that the officer on patrol recognized the two alleged suspects from video footage from the day of the incident.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Dec. 18, police responded to calls about the assault unfolding at the mall.

Allegedly, two masked men entered a store in the mall and dispensed bear spray on three employees, but did not steal anything.

The perpetrators left the scene before police arrived and were not located, despite officers using an aerial drone to search.

“We’re relieved that no one suffered serious physical injuries, but the impact of this incident is still significant,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Mansoor Sahak.

“We are grateful for the community’s assistance and are pleased that arrests have now been made.”
