Serious crash closes Coquihalla highway
A serious, multi-vehicle collision on the Coquihalla Highway shut down the throughway on Monday evening, police say.
Just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to the crash near the Great Bear Snowshed, according to a post by Cpl. Dave Noon with the Forensic Collision Reconstructionist with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
At the time, the highway between Merritt and Hope was closed in both directions. Just before 7 p.m., northbound travel reopened, Noon says.
Police say southbound travel remains closed while crews are on scene.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area, drive with care and plan an alternate route.
