A 42-year-old man has died after a serious incident on Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb confirmed to The Leader Spirit.

A representative for the ski resort said the incident took place Jan. 10. The man was found unresponsive by ski patrol in the mountain’s 7th Avenue and Expressway in a gladed area. Emergency care was provided at the site by an on-duty doctor, but the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

No further information will be released out of respect for the family, the resort says.

“On behalf of everyone at Whistler Blackcomb, we offer our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time,” said Belinda Trembath, Whistler Blackcomb COO.

This is the second fatality confirmed this year on the mountain.

The other fatality happened on Jan. 19. A 62-year-old man died after a serious incident, also on Blackcomb Mountain.
