The Surrey RCMP says a teen has been arrested and charged in connection with two stabbings — one in that city and the other in Delta.

Mounties explain officers received reports on Jan. 16 of a woman who had been stabbed by a stranger in the area of 84 Avenue and 128 Street just before 8 p.m. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Days later, on Jan. 23, the RCMP says Delta police received reports of a separate woman who had also been stabbed by a stranger in the area of 120 Street and and 80 Avenue.

In this case, the victim also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they later identified a 17-year-old suspect, who has since been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

They remain in custody.

Due to the suspect being a minor, Mounties say no further information is being shared.
