Toronto police make arrest in random attack on woman

Toronto police have arrested a man accused of randomly attacking a woman in broad daylight as she walked down a sidewalk.

Police were called to the Yonge Street and Cranbrooke Avenue area on January 30, 2024 for reports of an assault.

Investigators say the victim was walking along Yonge Street when she was approached by a male stranger who assaulted her, causing her to fall to the ground.

In a release, police confirmed that the suspect and victim were not known to each other.

On Tuesday police made an arrest in the case.

Jermain Crooks, 39, is facing a single count of assault.
