A pedestrian is in hospital after being struck by a semi-truck in Surrey Monday evening.

The Surrey RCMP say the collision occurred in the city’s East Newton South neighbourhood on 152nd Street around 9 p.m.

Officers say a 40-year-old male pedestrian sustained “significant injuries” after he was struck by the truck, which was travelling southbound.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with police and officers say the investigation is in “very early stages.”

Anyone with information about the incident, or dashcam footage of the area, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.

There are road closures in place and police are asking commuters to avoid the area.
