Police say an explosion inside a Trail motel room sparked a fire, and uncovered firearms and ammunition.

On Feb. 10, Trail RCMP says it responded to an explosion inside a room at the Glenwood Inn.

Officers say the explosion triggered a fire in an adjacent room, which led to an evacuation.

No injuries were reported.

Upon searching the room, police say they found firearms and ammunition, leading to the arrest of a 48-year-old man found on scene and believed to be associated with the room.

He faces numerous firearm offences, police add.

Now, Mounties say they’re searching for another suspect, described as a male in his thirties, with dark hair, brown eyes and burn injuries.

Police caution people not to approach the suspect if spotted.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
