Crews attend a fire at a home on Arbutus Street near East 33rd Avenue Friday evening.

A house fire at a home in Vancouver’s Arbutus neighbourhood has been extinguished.

Assistant fire chief Keith Stewart tells The Leader Spirit they received the call to the home on Arbutus Street near East 33rd Avenue around 6:15 p.m.

“Upon arrival, there was an occupant that had been removed from the back by a neighbour, and we had our crews inside,” Stewart said.

Stewart said the fire wasn’t confined to a single room.

“Unfortunately, they’re going to have to do some work in the house,” he said.

Despite this, crews were able to deal with it quickly.

“We were kind of lucky,” Stewart said.

There were no injuries to either the occupant or to any firefighters.
