Abandoned BC Ferry on fire in Mission; nearby residents advised to shelter in place
The Queen of Sydney — an old abandoned BC Ferry — is on fire on the Fraser River in Mission, and the Mission Emergency Operations Centre has issued a shelter-in-place advisory for nearby residents.
According to the RCMP in Mission, the fire started around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The fire is generating significant smoke, which is now being blown toward the Silverdale area due to shifting winds.
