Amtrak train between Vancouver and Oregon back on track

A popular passenger train between British Columbia and Oregon is back on track after being out of service for 11 days.

Amtrak says all trains on its Cascade route in the Pacific Northwest are now operating on schedule.

The company had taken 70 passenger cars across the country offline due to concerns with aging equipment. Of these, 26 were from the Cascades route.

That left a single train on the route, operating only between Seattle and Eugene. Service from Vancouver was reduced to bus service only.

When the company originally took the route offline, it said it would redistribute trains from its national fleet onto the Pacific Northwest route.

Replacement trains will be running with limited cars and fewer seats, so Amtrak says customers should consider booking in advance.

New trainsets will be coming in 2026, Amtrak says.
