A state memorial service for John Horgan will be held on Vancouver Island on Sunday, Dec. 15.

The B.C. government announced its plan to hold a service Tuesday. The memorial — which is open to the public — will start at 1p.m. in the Q Centre Arena in Colwood, a city west of Victoria.

It will reportedly include religious components, musical interludes, and words of remembrance.

“Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin, Premier David Eby and other dignitaries will be in attendance,” the province said.

The former B.C. premier and ambassador to Germany died at the age of 65 in November after his third battle with cancer.
