B.C. man sues Tinder for age based discrimination

There are plenty of fish in the sea, but one B.C. man’s search for love on online dating apps has landed him in the B.C. Supreme Court.

Kevin Creery is attempting to launch a class action lawsuit against the parent company of Tinder, due to alleged age-based discrimination.

Court documents state that Tinder was charging double for its premium services for users aged 29 and over.

However, Tinder ended this practice in 2022 and has argued the judge should throw out the case — calling it “frivolous” and bound to fail.

But the judge disagreed, saying Creery presents a triable issue — even though he will face a “significant burden” in proving his case.
