Bats have taken over Science World for Halloween
You know Halloween has arrived in Vancouver when Science World is lit up like a Jack-o-Lantern.
For this year’s spooky season, the science museum has prepared ‘Bat Week’ and will host an adult-only event on Thursday.
The ‘After Dark: Bloody Science — Halloween Edition’ event allows guests to enjoy the iconic dome “with a bewitching bevvy”.
Spokesperson Larrissa Dundon says guests can sip spooky cocktails while wandering through the dome’s exhibits.
“There is going to be a sword swallower who is going to do some really fun shows on centre stage for people,” she told 1130 NewsRadio.
“You can learn about vampire science, some of the folklore. There will be an opportunity to do some bloody science, learning with the SFU criminology team and the Vancouver Police Museum.”
As part of ‘Bat Week’, children have the opportunity to learn more about these creatures of the night.
“There is an opportunity to understand a little bit more about the biology of bats, why they are crucial to our world, and some of the challenges that bats face,” Dundon explained.
“There are just lots of different activities happening in different parts of the Dome, and we encourage everyone to learn more because they are really important part of our ecosystem.”
