A section of Sprott Street in Burnaby is closed in both directions Friday after a fatal crash.

The Burnaby RCMP says the road has been shut down from Norland Avenue to Kensington Avenue since the crash happened around 8 a.m.

Mounties have not shared many details, but confirmed that at least one person is dead.



Images from the scene show police marking several areas of interest at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Sprott Street.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Those looking to access Highway 1 can take Canada Way to Willingdon or go north of Burnaby Lake to Gaglardi Way via Lougheed Highway.
