Vancouver police say a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a convicted “high risk and violent sex offender” who failed to check in to a halfway house in the city.

According to the VPD, Johnny Walkus was released from the Matsqui Institution on Tuesday and never showed up at the transition home. Police note he hasn’t been seen since.

The 36-year-old is serving a sentence for two counts of sexual assault, as well as one count of break and enter with intent and one count of uttering threat to cause death/harm.

Walkus is described as being 5’8″ tall with a heavy build. He has short, black hair, brown eyes, and the name Johnny Cash tattooed on his right forearm.

Police say he was last seen wearing a red and black t-shirt, black track pants, a long, black-hooded coat, a camo-coloured Vancouver Canucks cap, and black and white Nike runners.

Vancouver police are asking anyone who sees Walkus or knows where he may be to call 911 right away.
