Canadians still soaking in the moment after magical 4 Nations win

Canadians are still basking in the glow of Thursday’s magical overtime win for Team Canada over the U.S. in the 4 Nations Faceoff finale, with the win bringing a renewed sense of national pride.
“I woke up this morning and kissed my passport,” one hockey fan told Citytv. “That’s how much this means to me. This is crazy.”
After repeated threats of tariffs and comments about making Canada the 51st state from Donald Trump, many Canadians felt there was more than just hockey bragging rights at stake.
Excitement, joy, and relief were common feelings after Connor McDavid potted the overtime winner. With that came a feeling of national unity that some have never experienced before.
“I felt like I witnessed history for many years to come,” another happy fan said.
“I woke up with a lot of excitement.”
Cory Zeggil, the general manager of CRAFT Beer Market, says the sales from Thursday night’s game were higher than what he sees during the Super Bowl.
“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen anything that big,” he said.
“There were around 500 people in here, give or take. Once that last goal went in, people were jumping around hugging, standing on tables and chairs, and all that good stuff. We normally don’t allow that but for this event, we’ll make an exception for sure.”
After a nine-year wait for international best-on-best hockey, Canadians, Americans, and fans around the world won’t have to wait too long for the next clash as the 2026 Winter Olympics are right around the corner.
