Canucks’ Myers a game-time decision, Silovs to start vs. Lightning

The Vancouver Canucks may not have to worry about defenceman Tyler Myers missing any time.

Injured in the Canucks’ last outing on Friday, Myers was considered day-to-day with a lower-body ailment but has been with the team on their eastern road trip.

On Tuesday, head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters that the six-foot-eight defenceman is a possibility to play against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Myers suffered the injury early into Friday’s shootout loss to Philadelphia when he made a hit on Flyers forward Joel Farabee, which resulted in an awkward collision. Myers stayed down on the ice and was attended to by team trainers before being helped off the ice by teammates. On Saturday, Tocchet confirmed that Myers underwent imaging but that he “may have dodged a bullet.”

The 16-year NHL veteran played 77 games for the Canucks last season, recording five goals and 24 assists for a total of 29 points.

Tocchet also confirmed that Artūrs Šilovs, the Canucks’ No. 1 goalie with Thatcher Demko sidelined, will get the start at Amelie Arena.
