Car bursts into flames after hitting concrete barrier in East York

A man was extricated from his fiery vehicle after crashing into a concrete barrier in East York and is now in critical condition.

Officers were called to the Moore Avenue and Bayview Avenue area in the Leaside neighbourhood just after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

Police said a driver lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier, leading to a fire.

Toronto Fire officials controlled the flames and put out the vehicle fire, eventually extricating the driver, who was trapped inside.

Toronto Paramedic Services tell The Leader Spirit an adult male was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

It’s unclear what led to the crash.
