A two-vehicle crash resulted in a car smashing through the front of a bank Saturday evening, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) says.

Officers were called to the RBC Royal Bank — located on 152nd Street near 30th Avenue — around 6:30 p.m.

“One of the involved vehicles was southbound and making a left-hand turn when it was struck by the second vehicle, which was northbound on 152nd Street,” police said.

“The northbound vehicle mounted the curb and struck the front of a business.”

Images show significant damage on the inside and outside of the business, including smashed glass and bent walls and ceiling tiles. The ceiling also appears to have been affected. The vehicle, a black sedan, was partway inside the building. The front end of the other car was also significantly damaged.

One of the drivers was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers are cooperating, and impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor, police say.

The cause is under investigation.
