Charges laid after woman’s death in East Vancouver last spring
The Vancouver Police Department says charges have been laid in relation to an incident that killed a woman in East Vancouver last year.
On March 30, 2024, the 37-year-old woman was found near the Esso Gas Station at Kingsway and Victoria Drive around 5 a.m. The woman died at the scene before she was taken to hospital.
Initially calling for witnesses and people with dash-cam footage to come forward, the VPD then released images of a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the death.
“Evidence obtained during the investigation helped police locate the vehicle and identify the alleged driver,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in an update on Tuesday.
The BC Prosecution Service has now approved charges against a 32-year-old, including dangerous driving causing death and failure to stop at an accident resulting in death.
According to the VPD, the accused was arrested Tuesday.
