Charges have been laid in the death of a teenager who had been assaulted in Abbotsford earlier this year.

On Jan. 27, the Abbotsford Police Department says it was called out to reports of a man being assaulted on Victoria Street near Hopedale Avenue before being taken away in a vehicle.

The victim was found hours later, severely injured, in Crescent Beach. He died in hospital days later.

Four men have been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement in connection with this incident: Surrey residents Jaskaran Singh and Bipanpreet Singh, Winnipeg resident Ravdeep Gill, and Brampton resident Harmandeep Gill. A fifth man, Inderpreet Khosa of Abbotsford, has been charged with forcible confinement.

Police have not released the identity of the victim. They say they believe this to have been a targeted incident and not related to the B.C. gang conflict.
