Circuit failure causes overlapping outages in Lower Mainland: BC Hydro
BC Hydro says crews worked to restore power to around 20,000 customers Thursday morning after a massive outage in the Lower Mainland south of the Fraser River.
The utility says a major transmission circuit failure affected customers on grids in Langley Township, Maple Ridge, Surrey and Abbotsford.
BC Hydro says its teams are working as quickly and safely as possible.
“We have already been able to restore power to about three thousand customers in the area, and hope to have all impacted customers back online later this morning,” said a statement to 1130 NewsRadio.
Around 11 a.m., BC Hydro reported that outages in the Lower Mainland had decreased to just over 3,000 customers.
Callers said traffic lights in the area continued working during the outages.
